Bulletins from the Factory to the Dealers.  These Service Shots are those that pertain to model 149 and 249 Verticals through 1948 (as far as the records in my posession go).  A gap in the number sequence does not indicate missing information.  Rather, it did not pertain to the verticals and/or was not worth posting here.

L&L Carburetors

I've not found anyone yet that is truly an expert and has new parts to service L&L carbs on the model 149 and 249 verticals.  As best as I can tell, the carburetors were junk, and when people finally came to this conclusion they tossed them aside and burned the evidence to be forever lost in history.  So here we are today with the task of resurrecting them for "correctness."  Look here for my personal research into the matter.

Amal Carburetors

Sometime in late 1950 or in 1951, Indian was putting Amal Carburetors on their motorcycles.  And all Warrior models had the Amal.  Here's a sales ad!  Specific to the verticals were models 274, 275, and 276 for Braves, Scouts, and Warriors, respectively.  Many vertical owners today install an Amal carburetor for improved performance over the L&L carburetors.  Thanks goes to British Cycle Supply for publishing this pre-monoblock booklet to the internet.

In my own inventory ...

Model 275B/1P was seen on a Scout.

Model 276/001R was seen on a Warrior.

Saddle Support Kit

If you were more than 5' 9" tall, the vertical would feel somewhat small and be a bit awkward to ride.  In 1950, Indian offered a kit to improve vibration damping on the saddle and raise it approximately 2".  The rear of the saddle would be raised by utilizing longer spring bolts.  Of course, this is applicable to the solo seat only.  Here is an illustrated description of the kit:  Saddle Support Kit.pdf
